This course, developed by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), equips participants with the necessary skills and practical knowledge to manage traffic using a stop/slow bat on roads within Queensland, where full or part road closure is necessary. If you are looking to start work in the traffic management industry, this is the course for you.
Participants will be provided with, but not limited to, the following skills:
- Plan and prepare work
- Operate two-way radios
- Clean up worksites
- Control traffic
Part A: Classroom based theory – 1 day
Our accredited and experienced Traffic Control trainer will take participants through group activities and discussions, demonstrations, and other activities designed to prepare students for their vocational placement.
Part B: Vocational placement – 20 hour logbook
Trainees must complete a minimum of 20 hours (unpaid) practical experience at work sites under the direct supervision of an experienced accredited traffic controller.
This may be arranged by participants or, alternatively, may be coordinated by Training Services through an approved Traffic Management Company.
